Skit-B Pinball Presents: Predator

January 15th, 2013

Just a passive little update video today. This video shows a detailed shot map of the playfield while we go over the finer details of how some of the playfield and gameplay features work.

The video also touches down on some of the new tech we will be using in the final build. For extremely detailed information on these new circuit boards, or to get a few for yourselves, you can always take a look at PinballControllers.com. Very fun stuff, indeed.

New update video today. If you missed the Chicago Expo last month, this will be your first time seeing the new prototype machine. Tons of minor and some major updates were made to the machine since the previous prototype and I think you will be happy to see the changes that were made.

You'll notice the lighting patterns have changed dramatically as to be less obnoxious during gameplay.

Some animations have been changed to better reflect what the final product will look like (note the Killing Spree and Replay animations).

Brand new, properly formed ramps have been installed on this machine. While they are certainly not the final designs and the fact that they are not transparent is certainly not permanent, the shot placements and angles are.

Center targets and the pop bumpers behind them have moved further up the playfield for playability. We have gotten significantly less "death shots" off the center targets in this build.

Many software updates and tweaks have been made for better playability and balance, as well. More to come, of course, during and after more play-testing.

So let's move on to the video itself. Over the recent course of this project, we live, eat, sleep and breathe essentially nothing but Predator. That being said, it's easy to slip our minds that many of you have never gotten to play a complete game on Predator or have even seen a complete game being played.

With that in mind, we shot video of two complete games being played. First exhibition tries to focus on multiball modes and the integration of the Hunt feature, while the second playthrough focuses more on conventional mode-based gameplay.

A lot of editing went into the presentation of the video update, but it should be said that once the gameplay videos start, they are completely unedited and unmodified. What you see in the video is exactly how the game plays as it sits today with all of its flaws included. We like to think we are aware of all of the flaws in the video, at least, but feel free to let us know your concerns and comments. After all, this is how the game grows and is a big part of why we do our updates in the form of videos in the first place.

At any rate, here's the video. Let us know what you think, but go easy on Sulkie Stevie. He's very sensitive!

Where have we been?? The short answer is: right here, working on Predator. Anyways, we're back with a new video to show off some of the stuff we've been working on just in time to get people hyped up for the Chicago Pinball Expo.

That's right, we will be attending the Chicago Pinball Expo from Wednesday the 17th to Sunday the 21st of this month. We are still hoping to pull together a brand new, updated prototype machine for the show, but funding for this project is solely personal, so it may be a bit tricky to pull that off. If you're feeling exceptionally generous tonight, we decided to throw out a quick donation button (*removed*) to help us make the best appearance with the best product possible at the Expo and maybe even help move the project along a little faster.

A big, sincere thank you goes out to everyone for keeping project alive and for helping it get to this point!

WARNING: Video is slightly NSFW due to some of the sound clips from the movie which are used in the game.

All aboard! We are extremely pleased to announce that the Predator will feature all brand new parts sourced from industry standard specs, provided by Marco Specialties. If any replacement parts are needed, they are just as simple as a website-order away!

Another fantastic announcement we are excited to make is that Back Alley Creations will be making many interactive "toys" for the Predator playfield! Check out all of their previous works over at BackAlleyCreations.com.

Finally, a live video! Take a look at the whitewood going on a test run after a long night of testing and tweaking. This video shows the beta whitewood, of course, and its assemblies and diverters operating, along with another one of the game's standard modes and the new Hunt mode and Hunt Multiball.

March 22nd, 2012

Pictures of the new whitewood are now up in the photos section under album #4. Expect many more very soon, as we continue to assemble and test the new game over the next few days!

Have a look at a new video showcasing some of what you can expect from the "inner-workings" of the Predator's settings and adjustments menus known as the 'B3' system, along with a shameless tour of our own "Pinball on a Plate" testing rig.

Whew, long time since an update has been made.

Many have asked why there haven't been any updates, and others were worried the project had died or stalled, but I am happy to report that this is not the case. While we have been pretty lax on public updates, we have been diligently working on the game itself and we are happy to report it is ahead of schedule for its public debut in April. On a side note, yes, we will be making a much bigger effort to update the site more often as the date looms closer. As always, check back frequently for more updates as they come, or you can check us out on Facebook under "Skit-B Pinball."

New video released! This video features two of the game's 'modes' and the standard multiball mode. Be sure to turn the volume up! If you like, the video can be viewed directly here. Comments and suggestions are always welcome, either on the video's site itself or through email at the address listed in the crew section. Please note that these are 'work-in-progress' clips and are not 100% indicative of the final product.

Photos section rebuilt with a much more user-friendly interface and updated with separate albums for cabinet art, playfield features and work-in-progress photos, respectively.
